International Seaplane Meeting Biscarrosse
Biscarrosse is the European capital of seaplanes. So, it was only natural for the Musée de l’Hydraviation, the city and the local aviation community to partner together to organize a gathering of seaplanes from around the world.
The first edition of the International Seaplane Meeting of Biscarrosse (Rassemblement International d'Hydravions de Biscarrosse) was in 1991 and it takes place every other year on the Latécoère base.
The next edition is scheduled for 2025.
Biscarrosse legendary seaplane’s aerial show
A spectacular air show, free for the whole family. On the ground and in the sky, this show is hosted by a professional speaker who introduces the legendary planes as they hurtle through the air. The first edition of the International Seaplane Meeting in Biscarrosse (Rassemblement Internatinal d'Hydravions de Biscarrosse) was held in 1991. This event takes place every other year, at the old Latécoère assembly and flight-test base.
For each edition, aerial performances by legendary seaplanes and other aircraft (Grumman Albatross, PBY Catalina, DC3, Beaver, etc.) take spectators on a deep dive into the history of French and international aviation.
More recent planes – like Rafales flown by French Naval Aviation pilots (represented by the City of Biscarrosse, which sponsored the 17F), the Canadair used by France’s civil defense agency, the Patrouille de France, and the Gendarmerie Air Force unit from Airbase 120 – complete the tableau.
Activities at the old Latécoère base
The International Seaplane Meeting also features:
- A village with some 15 exhibitors’ stands
- Bounce houses for kids
- Workshops
- Flight simulators (Alpha Jet, Rafale and Mirage III)
- Musical entertainment
- Conferences
- Food trucks and a food court
- F-BISCA gift shop with autographs
- Introductory flights over the lake, run by various organizations.
